Collection: Socks Kingston
Socks Kingston is a social enterprise here in the City.
Socks Kingston’ collects new socks for the most vulnerable in Kingston. Many people do not realize that socks are the most needed and least donated item for the unhoused.
Every month more than 800,000 Canadians rely on Food banks, and socks are one of the most needed and least donated items to these facilities. SOCKS are more than an article of clothing to those who have so little. They offer warmth, health, a symbol that someone is looking out for them, ownership, and pride. Socks make the forgotten feel wanted and loved again.
Through the generosity of our community, Socks Kingston has helped over 35 different organizations such as Kingston Interval House, Kingston Youth Shelter, Partners in Mission, Trellis, In From the Cold, Lily’s Place, Kingston Street Mission, Martha’s Table, St Vincent de Paul Society of Kingston, Elizabeth Fry and many others.
Since 2016, Socks Kingston collected and distributed more than 167,000 pairs of NEW SOCKS in the City of Kingston. The need is so great that Socks Kingston no longer has to seek out people and organizations in need. The sad fact is that we are currently struggling to meet the requests that come to us daily.
